“Preserving a Literature and Culture through Organizing”Daytoy ti topiko nga impakarga ni DR. ARIEL AGCAOILI, Coordinator ti Nakem ken International Conference in Literature and Culture Amianan a naangay idi Oktubre 27, 2007 iti Philippine Consulate General. “If you can stress the need to preserve and produce our languages and cultures as our way of affirming diversity and multiculturalism”. Laoklaok a kultura ken puli. Dagiti Filipino ti maysa a puli a mangbukel iti komunidad. Imigrante dagitoy. Kabaelanda ti makilaok iti ania a puli. Nupay naisinada kadagiti kampo kadagiti plantasion, saanna a kayat a sawen a saanda ammo ti makilangen. Filipino are capable to mingle with any ethnic group. Filipinos could be a good links. :“Filipinos can serve as “bridge person” in America’s emerging new pluralism. Filipinos and other Asians share a common geographic origin in the Asia-Pacific basin. In looking for images, or characteristics that would best capture and describe the Filipinos, especially the Ilokanos: you may or may not agree with me if I use these TERMINOLOGY such as: hardworker, frugal, and strike everywhere type of individual, I came upon the picture: SAAN UNAY A MANAGPILI. ADDA DIAY PAGSASAO: IMMAYTAYO A MANGGED, LA NGARUD, KUARTANTO MET LA TI BIROKEM. Ni Ilokano ket managil-iliw, nagaget ken natudio” Langoyenna amin a baresbes wenno adda danumna, as of the milkfish, the national fish of the Philippines. Milkfish, the bangus, thrives on brackish water, the admixture of fresh water that comes from the mountain rivers and salty water that comes from the sea. It is in this rotunda, this intersection, that milkfish are raised” Kaaduanna dagitoy a Filipino ket nalaingda nga agorganisa. Agsuratda iti man prosa, piksion ken dadduma. Iti Gumil Hawaii Anthology: “UTEK NI KAYUMANGGI”: These are living proofs that this organization is accomplishing its mission and showing signs that it is coming of age. The literary artistry displayed in the construction of the writings contained in this book is a tribute to the imagination, mental resourcefulness and patient pursuance of a dramatic triumph in the minds of the writers.

Needless to say, these achievements were largely inspired by the devoted President Pacita C. Saludes, supported by such prolific writers Mario Albalos, Amado Yoro and others. – Rev. Juan F. Dahilig, Adviser.

As an Ilocano writer, from Ilocos Sur, it is my duty and responsibility to write in the preservation of our Iloco literature and the culture in our own. Besides, it is my humble contribution and accomplishment in the propagation and enriching both literature and culture.

Hidalgo, Jr., “Adtoy a mainayon iti agamang iti Literatura Ilokana iti Hawaii daytoy a libro ni FTP. Mapadayawantayo amin iti panangilibro ni Apo Ponce kadagiti nobela, sarita ken daniwna. Ni Dr. Belinda Aquino ti guest speaker

I declined the nomination for president due to health and medical restrictions and limitations.

"Thank you for the nomination. Truly, I was so determined and with inspiring desire to be a UFCH president. Since 2007 when I came cak to OFCC, I am determined and prepared to seek this presidency....to continue my volunteer service and my commitment, In February this year, I already made plans with some program blueprint, and in June 5, I officially announcement my intention. I love to serve, as my passion and my mission.

But, things changed UNEXPECTEDLY, so rapidly, abrupt and sudden without any warning or signal what comes next. To the point that my wife brought me to the Emergency Room, then moved me to Queens Hosptial that I was confined for 10 dark days.....I have this pain in me, yet, I am avoiding pressure, and per doctor's advised, to take it easy, not to get involved in strenuous, streeful activities as a health and medical restrictions and limitations.

For this reason, if I may just go back 20 years ago in 1990, we had elected a one and only woman then and became a history of UFCH. This woman whom I gave her a high regards and respect, because under her administration for the 2 full terms, I was fortunate to be the Chairman of Publicity, ladies and gentlemen, fellow delegates, I am referring to Nana Maggie Domingo as first woman president.

Today, I believe I can help make a very significant history of UFCH, if Nana Maggie had the opportunity to serve, only one woman president within the first 50 years of UFCH, I could have been an opportunity for me to become the 31st UFCH president, but again, because of this unexpected circumstance, this pain in me, with restrictions and limitations as my doctor prescribed me, of course, I have that warning of precaution to have a second thought. and some of you said: health is wealth, first and foremost of priority, I listen to my doctor, to you, to myself. If for the last 50 years toward the century of UFCH, the 51 year starts, I think, we can provide helping UFCH anothe remarkable event and history if we can give an opportunity to anothe woman become the next UFCH president, and to be the 2nd woman president of this pretigious Council....I can always serve in so many ways, and any capacity that I am capable of....Mr. Chairman, fellow delegates, thank you.

Saan a napengdan ni Lynne ti naglua.

MICHAEL SANA - Education - Waipahu High School Science Teacher/Department Head
Glimpse
Education Bachelor of Arts in Biology, University of Hawaii at Manoa [1999], Post Baccalaureate in Secondary Science Education, UH Manoa.
Highlight: 2010 Chevron Hawaii Science Teacher of the Year, 2010 Bishop Museum Science Teacher Award Recipient

His Excellence
Michael Sana is an example of our few educators who combine instruction with play and fun. It is in this productive combination that we see in him the rigor of preparing the young with the discipline in the sciences and the discipline needed in sports. Her Excellence
My commitment to the Filipino community has long been an integral part of who I am. and part of my Filipino heritage, as with many, finds its roots in agriculture.

Hawaii has become the world's leading producer of seed corn, accounting for 96% of the state's $1.76 million Ag bioteck industry. This translates to $200 million in direct spending, occurring on less than 5% of Hawaii's available arable land. The days of working for pineapple and sugarcane plantations have long passed. Tey seed crop industry is the new leader providing almost a quarter of all agricultue jobs, bringing new opprtunities to Filipinos whith higher wages and increased benefits.

Biotechnology goes far beyond Hawaii's shores, reaching the Philippines where Bt corn was the first genetically modified feed/food crop approved for commercial planting in Asia, Recognizing the world's increasing population and finite croplands nourished by stressed water resources to feed a growing world demand, the responsibility of biotechnology is an importannt part of the equation, We need to ask ourselves what role will Hawaii plqy in furthering the efforts of feeding the world.

Bicoy says: i will continue advocacy for the Ag biotechnology industry in Hawaii and ppromote my cultural values of responsibility, respect and honor in all that I do, to open doors and create opportunity for generations of Filipinos to come.

A SAD LAMENTATION TO A LAME DUCK ORGANIZATION OFFICER: UNACCOMPLISHED

A SAD LAMENTATION TO A LAME DUCK ORGANIZATION OFFICER: UNACCOMPLISHED

Sitting with joy; and pride
The title and the glory
yet action does not exist
Too many ideas
And plans yet no follow-up
Nor actions
Taken

Presumed to be the best
Presumed to be the biggest
And presumed to be the smartest
Of all than the legendary
Than the Organizers and trailblazer

Who says his expertise
A know-all
Of all field and so
Overly knowledgeable
All ramifications
But done too little or nothing at all

What an irony
What a waste

That torch no longer
In the light but
In no flame
The hatred
The egoistic attitude
Deep down the ground
Or under the ground
He sees nothing but himself
With the inverted crown
Like the cock lost in a
Duel

Oh yeah
You watch, jesse, you watch
That a lame duck sitting in on
Melting ice
Yet, fading
Melting
With no foot print
No mark remaim
Anywhere
All gone
A deep deep sigh
So despair and unfortunate
fruitless
unaccomplished
