FELIPE ARGEL ALCAIN

UFCH Progress Awardee in Community and Volunteer Service, 2010

A son of a 1946 Sakada from Cabaroan West, Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, Felipe, popularly called “Philip” by friends and associates, arrived in Hawaii on May 8,1967 and lived in the “Friendly Isle”, the Island of Molokai to join his father. He immediately welcomed by the Molokai Filipino Community Council and became active for several months and decided to move to Oahu.

In Oahu, he then joined the Oahu Filipino Community Council and served in various responsible positions and committees. Philip is always visible, available and flexible to the call of volunteer service, consistent and committed.

He always willing, able and ready to give his time and contribute the best he can share. From picking up trash along the highway, the Kalihi street, in particular, to secure parking, to escort a princess or a runner-up, unload, unpack, and pack a cooked huli huli chicken during fundraising event, carry a cases of drinks, bottled water, to the table of board meetings, Philip is always someone you can depend on because he believes action is better than idea, to deliver result.

He left his Regional Director position from the Bureau of Commerce, Manila, Philippines as he immigrated to Hawaii on May 8, 1967. In Hawaii, he was Accounting Clerk at the Phil-Am Life Insurance Company, Honolulu, Hawaii. Bookkeeper at Bitumuls and Commercial Shelving Company. Stock Clerk at Hawaiian Houseware and retired in 1997.

He worked at Don Quijote Store as a parttime Warehouse and Logistic personnel.

FAMILY AND PERSONAL

Felipe Alcain was happily married to former Josie Salamat from San Esteban, Ilocos Sur and blessed with two [2] children: Annalisa and August.

EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT

He earned his Bachelor of Science and Business Administration degree from the Far Eastern University, Manila, 1963
