I know it still early for the assembly time will 8am. Thus, I went to McDo and have a breakfast and cup of coffee. I met Larry B, Marrieta B, and Harold. Larry and Marrieta are in Kapolei, Harold is a member of Rotary Club, then, Harold introduced me to Arnold. More volunteers arrived and the HPD representative. Cans of paints, paint brushes, rollers, gloves, trash bags and other graffiti painting supplies were delivered. Wasted no time, we started the paint out of the Bus Shelters. It was 10:15am when we finished our assigned Bus Shelter. HPD took group pictures. It was a good feeling that, as always, I served my community in my simple way in the spirit of voluntarism and community service. Good day.

By invitation by the ED CASE CAMPAIGN for US Senate [see below], Danny Villaruz and I went to help other volunteers in sign waving in front of the Kapalama Elementary School.

I have a great respect to Ed. He is intelligent, practical, friendly and he knows people new and old friends.

I met some old friends like Christine, Jimmy, George, Tish, who volunteered when he ran for US Congress a couple of years back.

I met Rep. John Mizuno and greeted each other. John is one of the volunteers in my group as I chaired the Adopt a Hwy and Grafitti Buster Project in the Kalihi St. and Kalihi area when I was an OFCC director 2007-2009.

Today, I emailed some of my poems, my sarindaniw, my articles to my writings outlets: wwww.Ilocostimes.com; Timpuyog Journal, AMADO I. YORO Online at www.Iluko.com, to Hawaii Filipino News. I also sent out my special article to Bannawag about the Mother's Day.

Today, I forwarded the write up I wrote about the life of a "Singing Diplomat" for his review. He is currently the Deputy Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu. He is active in the community, good singer and master of ceremonies, He is an Ilokano born in Baguio City and claimed to have root connecting from Laoag City. He is the honorable Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes.

Today, Danny Villaruz and I set Wednesday April 25 a tentative meeting for the OFCC Past President Council. Danny is the Chair, I am a member of the Council, with other 17 living past presidents.

OFCC is an islandwide umbrella organization of various Filipino organizations in Oahu. Todate, there are 36 active unit members some of these had renewed their membership as a positive result of the Membership Drive that was set in 2007. That campaign was working progressively at the 3 % goal every year increase from 19 units.

Note: OFCC convention will be on June 10, 2012 at the Philippine Consulate General lanai.

MY PERSONAL JOURNAL AND IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

MY PERSONAL JOURNAL AND IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

APRIL 17, 2012 - TUESDAY
I wrote and sent my 2 articles ti TJ and IT

I wrote my article about the Honolulu Singing Diplomat, the Deputy Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes of the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Cortes is very good person and government foreign service representative. Very active in the Filipino community. He was born in Baguio City and claimed also has a root connection from Laoag City. Last time I met him, sitting in a same table at the 13th anniversary of INCAT and their installation of officers. Mr. Cortes served as the installing officer for INCAT that evening of March 31, 2012 at the Ala Moana Hotel.

I received an email from Prescillano N. Bermudez, Pedro Bucaneg Awardee, congratulating me about the AMMAFLA.

I received a call from Danny Villaruz, former OFCC president, now the Chairman of the Oahu Filipino Community Council [OFCC] Past Presidents, asking my opinion in holding another Council meeting, and I said: its about time again to discuss some issues about the OFCC activities and the upcoming convention/election on June 10, 2012 at the Philippine Consulate General.

As always OFCC is facing some challenges: in membership, in leadership, in fund, and participations.

Special projects such as Feed the Homeless, Adopt a Hwy, Hawaii Food Bank and fundraising are very much active.

Danny is chairing the Nomination and Election Committee with Ilalo Parayno and myself, also OFCC past president and members of the OFCCPPC.

Danny is running for the House of Representatives District 31. He ran in 2010 but lost by 500 votes.

Danny is one of the Filipino-Americans who are running for public office like in the person of former Benjamin Cayetano, for mayor; Ron Menor, Joey Manahan, E.J. dela Cruz, Kimberly Pine, Alex Santiago, Rosebella Martinez, for council; Michael Magaoay, Alex Sonson, for Senate; Romy Cachola for House, just to name a few.

August 11 is the primary election, November 6, 2012 is the general election.

MY PERSONAL JOURNAL AND IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

MY PERSONAL JOURNAL AND IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

April 16, 2012 Monday - Early in the morning after I dropped my grandson CJ boy to a christian school as he attending kinder K-4, I took the time to review my messages left in my Cellphone voicemail. It was Rev. Joe Lazo, Ben Cabreros and Mila Medallon. I chose to return Mila Medallon's call from the Cayetano Campaign, Media Publicity Committee. Requesting me to be part of the committee on media public relations, Ilokano dialect. She asked me to write something about the Cayetano campaign and send it to my writing outlets.

After lunch, I went to the Immigration Services office for consultation regarding documents we received from the National Visa Center relating to the petition of my nephew to his family still in the Philippines.

At 4pm, I joined the sign waving for Cayetano for Mayor. I met old friends like Atty Mar Apuya, Marietta Bustamante. Community like like Danny Villaruz, also a candidate for District 31 [Foster Vilage-Salt Lake-Moanalua-Aiea] Eddie Agas, Sr., Rey Graulty dropped of some boxes of tee-shirts. There are about 30 sign wavers this afternoon according to Eddie Agas, Sr., as one of the area coordinators.

As we were standing together along Fort Weaver Road with Atty Apuya, part of our chat and guessing exchanged, what chances Apo Ben for this campaign by August 11 primary election. I predicted per my personal 'crystal ball' and poll and pulse - a 50 percent plus one is possible to achieve so long as the campaign will consistent and continue to be visible, consistent to be visible along the road [sign waving], publicity: tv, radio, print [ilokano included], door to door and hold some coffee hour and club visitation.

As we continue this chat, Atty Apuya and I also casually talked relating to other Filipino American candidates, known and declared candidates, such as State House Vice Speaker Joey Manahan to run as Councilman in District 7; Honolulu Councilman Romy Cachola to run in Hoouse district 30; Ron Menor, a former Senator who is running against a non Filipino in Council District 9; Michael Magaoay, a former House Vice Speaker who is running against an incumbent and non Filipino in Senate District 17; Alex Sonson, a former State Representative who is running against an incumbent and non Filipino in Senate District 18; Kimberly Marcos Fine, a former State Representative who is running against fellow Fil-Am like Alex Santiago,a former State Representative, E.J. dela Cruz, new bread and be the youngest candidate at 18 years old; Rosebella Martinez, a businessperson, and the incumbent non Filipino in Council District 1.

Question? What chances are these 4 gentlewomen and gentlemen?

Comment: Something must be done - a compromise, best strategy and setting a goal of winning. Who has the best chance, has the best experience, and the best platform that the voters in the district want and support.

Mayoralty and Council seat are nonpartisan, while in the Hawaii Senate and House of Representatives are partisan: the Democrats and the Republicans.

If, and if Filipino American candidates in District 1, District 7 and District 9 are lucky enough to garner the winning votes, then, there will be one-third of the 9-member Council, in a Filipino decent to serve at the same time. It happened at one time when Former Council Chair Donovan dela Cruz [second Filipino to serve a Chair -Hon Rudy Pacarro was the first Filipino to serve as Council Chair] Former Council Chair [now councilmember] Nestor Garcia, 3rd Filipino who Chaired the Council, and Councilmember Romy Cachola, served at the same time.

If former Governor Benjamin Jerome Cayetano win this election for mayor, he will be the First Filipino-American Mayor of Honolulu [as he was the First Filipino American Governor in Hawaii]

Per his political record, he never lost an election from State House of Representative, State Senator, held and chaired various committees include but not limited to the powerful Senate Ways and Means Committee and elected as Lt Governor with Governor John Waihee, and served as Governor in full 8 years from 1994-2002.

Next sign waving for Cayetano will be on Monday April 23.
