APRIL 27, 2014 SUNDAY AT THE FILCOMCENTER. I had a very brief meeting with Angie and Alex after the OFCC Board meeting.========As an OFCC Annual Convention Committee Co-Chair with Jake Manegdeg, and member of the Council of OFCC Past Presidents and member of the Nomination and election Committee chaired by Danny Villaruz, part of my functions and roles is to look for ideal candidates for this upcoming election on June 14, 2014 at the Philippine Consulate. I shared my personal view what is going on today, and in the past administration. What is expected from the New Administration Topics: Continuity of the 2012-2014 OFCC progressive projects on hand. ----Special Projects include Adopt a Hwy, A Park, Feeding the Homeless, Rapid Response, Walk for Fun ----OFCC solvency from a $5.00 balance as admin took over ----OFCC membership growth a development at 3% increase annually since 2007 at set by the Membership Committee 2007-2008-2009 to date ----Continue to improve the Miss Oahu Filipina Scholarship pageant committee coffer ----Public relations and community outreach-community service oriented council -----OFCC Integrity and Good name has been improved They both ready to go for president.======= Alex= this is my time, I have no other chance but now=====I can bring good program in addition to what listed here, I can bring qood members to work with us as a Council======== Angie= my family has all the support as they want me to see leading the Council----I have support from other organizations as I go around very actively======= Amado===going back before Jean time will be a disaster---we all know the story--it is a facts, it is unfortunate that was happened the way it was happened========== Alex- if I lose then I'll accept it ===this is my time as I am willing to do it now. Organization like the Lions Club, Rotary and others did their part as off and on basis, even before the OFCC/UFCH took step and introduced a resolution at the UFCH Convention in Maui, July 2010, as a partnership effort. There was a time the Hawaii State Transportation took down the OFCC signs at the 2 ends, but luckily we were able to convinced the Highway Coordinator to put it back in 2006. It took some State Representatives in the person of then Vice Speaker Joey Manahan and Rep. John Mizuno, former representative Jun Abinsay got involved. It also took some former Miss Hawaii Filipina and Miss Oahu Filipina and Mrs. Hawaii Filipina got involved. Youth Group from Farrington High School were also participated in. ======================= Thank you to the weather as cooperating. Part 2 by Amado Yoro ======00000====== OAHU FILIPINO COMMUNITY COUNCIL Council of Past Presidents June 30, 2011 Present: Jun Abinsay, Franklin Borromeo, Ben Cabreros, Jenny Quezon, Gerry Rojo, Danny Villaruz (Chairman), Amado Yoro, Jean Jeremiah (recorder). Welcome: Chairman Danny Villaruz called the meeting to order at 6:15 pm. He welcomed everyone for attending and opened the meeting with a prayer. Resolution 2011-5A: H. Council of Past Presidents. The Committee on Council of Past Presidents shall comprise of all surviving Past Presidents of the Council and shall act as an advisory council to the President and the Board of Directors. The Immediate Past President shall serve as Chairperson of this Committee. Rationale: A Council of Past Presidents which exists to provide advice to the President and the Board of Directors, would utilize the past experience of presidents of the Council. Role of Council of Past Presidents – Danny Villaruz re-iterated and clarified that the role of the Council of Past Presidents will only be advisory in nature. The Council unanimously agreed that based on their past experiences as Past President of OFCC, that they can be more effective in supporting OFCC to carry out its mission. Past Experiences and Observations – Each Past President in attendance shared their experiences under their respective Administrations. They gave a few advices to the new leadership and expressed their willingness to come back, be more involved and to support OFCC. They would like to see an increase in unit membership and the availability of having a legal adviser at every meeting. Implementation of Resolution 2011-5A– 1. Creation of guidelines for the Council of Past Presidents. Amado Yoro duly made a motion that the Council be comprised of a minimum of 5 members (which reflects 1/4 of the total 21 surviving Past Presidents) and the required presence of at least 3 members to make a quorum; seconded by Gerry Rojo. Motion carried. 2. Franklin Borromeo duly made a motion to appoint Jean Jeremiah as recorder for the Council; seconded by Jenny Quezon. Motion carried. 3. Jenny Quezon duly made a motion that the Council will meet quarterly on the third week of the Quarter, date and time to be determined; with the required minimum of 3 members having the authority to call for Special Meetings for urgent and pressing matters; seconded by Jun Abinsay. Motion carried. 4. The Council agreed to follow the language of Resolution 2011-5A – that the Council will act as advisors only. Suggestions: 1. OFCC should operate as the umbrella of all unit organizations in Oahu. 2. Form partnerships with unit organizations to encourage and motivate them to be more involved. OFCC can help other unit organizations by offering them a percentage generated from fundraising projects or events. This will also eliminate competition among unit organizations and OFCC. 3. Implement Resolution 2010 that was presented and approved at last years 2010 Annual OFCC Convention. 4. Offer a letter of sympathy to the family of the late Mel Europa, to be signed by the Chairman (Danny Villaruz) and the President of OFCC (Maria Etrata).
