MY OFCC SPECIAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE MONTHLY REPORT FOR APRIL 27, 2014 OFCC Special Projects Committee Report April 27, 2014 ============================= TO: OFCC Board of Directors and Unit Organizations ================ From: Chair Amado Yoro, Angie Santiago, Jesse Pascual, Al Sabangan, Art Abinsay, Eddie Agas, Sr., Danny Villaruz, Armi Farinas, Co-Chairs ==================== April 26. 2014 Adopt a Hwy- Kalihi Street- 2 miles BRIEF BACKGROUND: It was in the 70’s and 80’s Adopt a Hwy was used to be a WEEFUL CLEAN UP PROJECT by the State of Hawaii . Organization like the Lions Club, Rotary and others did their part as off and on basis, even before the OFCC/UFCH took step and introduced a resolution at the UFCH Convention in Maui, July 2010, as a partnership effort. There was a time the Hawaii State Transportation took down the OFCC signs at the 2 ends, but luckily we were able to convinced the Highway Coordinator to put it back in 2006. It took some State Representatives in the person of then Vice Speaker Joey Manahan and Rep. John Mizuno, former representative Jun Abinsay got involved. It also took some former Miss Hawaii Filipina and Miss Oahu Filipina and Mrs. Hawaii Filipina got involved. Youth Group from Farrington High School were also participated in. ======================= Thank you to the weather as cooperating. This April 26, 2014 activity, former Mrs. Hawaii Filipina [2006] Armi Oliver Farinas came out with a former Board of Education member Charlene Cuaresma, retired pastor Alex Vergara and wife Marienne. Angie Santiago and 2 sons Aven and Damien Santiago of Bulacan; Community Service volunteer and retired Bank Manager Al Sabangan of Cabugao, a businessman, Rico Ferrer of La Union; Jesse Pascual, OFCC/UGHO, Luz Peirson, Jean Jeremiah, OFCC president were present . ========================== signed in for April 28 Feeding the Homeless-Monday- Institute for Human Services MEN’S SITE 1.
